AsylMigA conference on "Asylum and Migration Tensions and Challenges" in Europe and Greece has been organised on 7-8 March 2013 in Thessaloniki, Greece, by Goethe Institute Thessaloniki, Heinrich Böll Stiftung Greece, Symβiosis, Greek Council for Refugees, Evangelical German speaking Church and Antigone, under the auspices of the Thessaloniki Municipality and with the support of UNHCR Greece.

The event consisting of an international conference was held on Thursday 7/3 and workshops for stakeholders on Friday 8/3. The conference aimed to foster inclusive public dialogue on protection, fundamental rights and migration in Greece and to contribute to the communication and exchange of opinions and information among national and European institutions, refugees, asylum seekers and migrants and their organizations, the local government and civil society organizations working on migration and asylum. The need for serious, in-depth discussion is glaringly obvious, at the European, the national and the local level, analysing the processes and political options for imposing an effective and just asylum and migration policy in Greece, linking its implementation to the rule of law and to the future of Europe. Working languages: German and Greek.
