2nd National Awareness Event

On 20 November 2020, Symbiosis-School of Political Studies in Greece, affiliated to the Council of Europe Network of Schools, organised the second national awareness presentation of the FOMEN project in Greece, within the online event “Human Rights in the COVID-19 era” and the 4th Select Respect Film Festival, co-organized by the SelectRespect Network, Symbiosis is a member of and Greenwave Festival.

The discussion focused on the increased violence as a consequence of the imposed movement restrictions due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, affecting refugees and migrants, especially those living in camps; domestic violence and the links to the increased cases of gender-based violence. The pandemic brought to the surface, in a more urgent way, the ever-growing need for a gender-sensitive approach of violence prevention work and for a critical reflection on the traditional role of men.

The results and the suggestions of the FOMEN Transnational Report were extensively discussed, while the event was livestreamed.
